Jesus, it almost stopped my heart how My Bloody Valentine the guitar scoops and stormy instrumentation are here. It might actually be the most spot-on impersonation I’ve ever heard, vocals aside. For all I love shoegaze, there are way too many bands just dicking around with pedals—finding out that a group like Soren Well has the songwriting chops necessary to be celebrated outside the scene (see what I did there?) is a rare and precious discovery.
Basically the most underrated band ever. I’ve been hearing about this band for a while now, and finally got around to giving them a listen… Amazing dream pop/shoegaze in the same vein of Slowdive… Only 1300 listeners on last.fm??!?! BLASPHEMY
It would be unjustifiably arrogant of me to fancy that my period of absence from tumblr has actually been noticed by anyone, but I’m BACK NOW YEEEEAH.
Since moving into my modest, but lovely, new flat, I have been mostly listening to this. It is Sight of You by Pale Saints and I bought the record on the strength of it and I wish I had been born in in 1972. I’ve calculated that I was born precisely 13 years too late.

is it me or would this be a great shoegaze song
Yes it would and shoegaze royalty Spectrum AKA Sonic Boom agrees with you.
Just a scant 20 minutes ago, The Antlers offered up a tasty morsel of an unreleased track on their Twitter page. Recorded live in 2007, the Brooklyn-based trio offer up their version of My Bloody Valentine’s classic shoegazer track, “When You Sleep,” off of Loveless.
Naturally, my headphones are buried beneath a whole bunch of work crap, so I won’t be able to listen to this until later. Still, even though I’ve been relatively unimpressed in the little time I’ve spent listening to The Antlers, their take on an MBV classic is too irresistible not to post.
If tumblr has benefited me in no other way, fantastic music tips are more than enough. Like this! Sweet shoegaze from Bristol. I’m getting a lovely Cocteau Twins feel from this. Thanks to thenotes for this tip.
Slowdive - Some Velvet Morning (originally performed by Lee Hazlewood and Nancy Sinatra)
I’m having one of those lazy Sunday mornings where I cue up all the versions I have of this track including multiple mixes of the Primal Scream cover and play them all in a row. My neighbours adore me.
